The Radisson Hotel Panama Canal has opened for business, following a US$2 million renovation and a rebranding from its former incarnation as a Country Inn & Suites by Radisson. The 254-room Panama City property overlooks the Panama Canal and is just minutes from Albrook International Airport, a secondary airport used by Air Panama. It also is within walking distance of the Amador Convention Center, which is scheduled to open in December of this year.

On-site amenities include a fitness center, a business center, an outdoor pool and free WiFi. Among the property's restaurants on the premises are the 24-hour 1914, which offers coffee and tea, soups, sandwiches, pizza and pastries; the Bridge View Restaurant, which, appropriately enough, features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Bridge of the Americas; a TGI Friday's, and a lobby bar that serves small plates along with local craft beer and signature cocktails.

The hotel's meeting space include 13 rooms that can accommodate anywhere from 18 to 150 attendees; each offers free WiFi, and many have views of the canal.

The rebranding of the property is part of the hospitality company's larger strategy for the region, according to Frances González, vice president of operations for Radisson Hotel Group in Latin America. "The opening of this hotel aligns with our five-year strategic plan to tighten brand consistency and drive awareness of our hotels, while delivering superior hospitality for our guests," she noted.
