About $70 million is being spent to upgrade The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in the planned community outside Houston. A new wing of 184 guest rooms is being constructed and 222 existing rooms are being renovated; when work is finished in the fall, the property will have 406 rooms. The 60,000 square feet of meeting space at the resort, which is a member of the International Association of Conference Centers, is being renovated, as well, and a new steak house is being added. A new lazy river will open at the beginning of the summer.
