The first Ritz-Carlton in Japan opened on the tropical island of Okinawa yesterday. The property, which reflects Okinawan design through its red-clay roof tiles, landscaping and water ponds, offers 97 guest rooms. Dining options include an upscale Italian restaurant and a teppanyaki venue featuring local seafood and Okinawan beef. The property also has a spa, an indoor pool and a golf course.
