San Diego's iconic Hotel del Coronado will become part of the Curio Collection by Hilton later this month. The 130-year-old beachside property -- a National Historic Landmark -- will be the "crown jewel" of the upper-upscale collection, according to Hilton.

The Curio Collection allows hotels to take advantage of Hilton's sales, marketing and loyalty-program benefits, while maintaining the spirit and authenticity of their independent status.

"What a landmark day for Curio Collection by Hilton, as we welcome one of the world's most celebrated and storied hotels," said Mark Nogal, global head of the brand. "We look forward to continuing the authentic tradition of Hotel del Coronado while the hotel establishes its place as a true gem in our growing collection of hotels and resorts that are remarkable destinations unto themselves."

The 757-room hotel offers 78 luxury villas and cottages at the on-site Beach Village and a variety of F&B outlets and experiences, including a retro ice cream parlor, the fine-dining 1500 Ocean restaurant, brunch in the Crown Room and clambakes on the beach. The Spa & Salon at the Del offers a variety of treatments and beauty therapies, while water sports and a number of unique fitness classes and programs are offered on the beach.

The storied hotel has 47 meeting venues on-site -- indoor, outdoor and beachfront -- ranging from 300 to 12,500 square feet, with the space to accommodate as many as 1,200 people.
