 Hotels in the Americas region posted performance increases for the month of April, according to data released last week by STR Global. The region saw year-over-year increases in occupancy (+1.4 percent, to 61.8 percent), average daily rate (+4.3 percent, to US$108.25) and revenue per available room (+5.8 percent, to US$66.95). The Chilean capital of Santiago, which hosted three major trade shows in April, led in all three category increases, with an occupancy jump of 7.3 percent (to 74.2 percent), ADR hike of 21.1 percent (to US$209.66) and RevPAR increase of 29.9 percent (to US$ 155.57). San Francisco and Chicago also experienced double-digit increases in average daily rate, with growth of 11.3 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively.
