Beijing-based Shangri-La International Hotel Management, parent company of Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, will manage a 236-room luxury hotel and residences in Jeddah, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia. Opening in early 2018, the property will be brand's first in that country.

The hotel, which will be part of a development project located on Jeddah Corniche Road facing the Red Sea, will feature four restaurants, 20,000 square feet of meeting space and a full-service luxury spa. Currently, Shangri-La's global portfolio stands at 90, but it has a substantial development pipeline; upcoming projects are planned for mainland China, Cambodia, India, Qatar and Sri Lanka.
