Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed the Sheraton Cozumel Resort, a 120-room beachfront property opening in early 2018 on the island off of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. In addition to providing easy access to diving on the island's famed reef, the resort will have two swimming pools, a poolside bar, three restaurants, a lobby lounge and the brand's Link@Sheraton technology center. Also on-site will be a Sheraton Fitness center, a Shine Spa, and 8,500 square feet of meeting and event space. The property is about 10 miles from Cozumel's city center, near the airport and ferry port, which offers service to Playa del Carmen on the mainland. The hotel will be the sixth Sheraton in Mexico and the 37th in Latin America. Starwood now has 29 hotels in Mexico, representing eight of its nine brands.
