Spain-based Melia Hotels International signed an agreement to build and operate five Innside by Melia hotels in Chile, the company announced this week. The first of the hotels, the 120-room Innside Santiago, will be the brand's first in the Americas. Innside by Melia has grown rapidly in Europe, particularly in Germany. The Innside Santiago, debuting in 2014 in the capital city's Providencia district, will offer a restaurant, a bar and a gym onsite, as well as nearly 2,700 square feet of meeting space. Melia intends to work with its private investment fund partner, Grupo Armas, to open properties in Peru and Colombia as well.
