The 118-room St. Regis Istanbul debuted March 1, the first of the luxury brand's hotels to open in Turkey. The property overlooks Maçka Park and the Bosphorus, in the Nişantaşi neighborhood on the city's European side, and features a rooftop Spago restaurant by Wolfgang Puck. The contemporary hotel, which channels art deco design, will showcase works from the Demsa Collection of Art, privately held works from the group that owns the hotel. In addition to the rooftop signature restaurant, the hotel offers the ground-level St. Regis Brasserie and adjoining Petit "O" Bar. Also on-site are the Iridium Spa and the Astor Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 160 people. The hotel offers the ultraluxury Bentley Suite as well, created in partnership with the luxury automobile maker.

The new property is one of five Starwood intends to debut this year in Turkey. Also opening in Istanbul will be two Four Points by Sheratons, as well as a Sheraton on the Asian side of the city. The coastal city of Samsun has welcomed a new Sheraton as well. That will bring Starwood's total to 15 properties in the country. The company intends to open 40 new hotels across Europe over the next five years, expanding its portfolio there by almost 30 percent.
