Starwood  Hotels and Resorts revealed Thursday that it is piloting a new app called ProMeetings, through which planners who are SPG or SPG Pro members can make facilities requests during an event. Examples of such requests range from extension cords to coffee service to changes in lighting, according to Starwood, and are directed to the appropriate property associate. The app, which should be rolled out globally in 2016, is currently being piloted at several hotels, among them the W Singapore-Sentosa Cove, the Westin Singapore, the Sheraton Atlanta Airport, the W Atlanta Midtown and the Westin Charlotte (N.C.). The native app is being tested on Apple iOS and Android devices.
The communication functionality of ProMeetings is essentially one feature of Starwood's far more robust eVent Portfolio platform and app for meetings. According to Starwood, meeting properties continue to roll out eVent Portfolio, which is now in use at more than 50 hotels. As of today, ProMeetings and eVent Portfolio can be used alongside one another.
