Starwood launched its "Get More for Your Meeting, Give More to Your Community" promotion last week, in partnership with PepsiCo. Planners who book a meeting at a participating Starwood property by July 31 and hold the meeting by Dec. 31 will receive 4 percent off their master account, a complimentary PepsiCo food and beverage break, and as many as 100,000 bonus Starpoints. Companies also will be eligible to win one of four $50,000 grants, to be awarded to the charity of their choice. More than 350,000 hotels are participating, representing the Westin, Sheraton, Le Méridien, W, Luxury Collection, Four Points by Sheraton, Element and Aloft brands. Starwood kicked off the promotion last Thursday with a $50,000 grant to Bette Midler's nonprofit New York Restoration Project; CEO Frits van Paasschen and more than 100 Starwood and PepsiCo employees spent the day helping to restore three community gardens in East Harlem.
