Starwood launched its "Get More for Your Meeting, Give More to Your Community" promotion last week, in partnership with PepsiCo. Planners who book a meeting at a participating Starwood property by July 31 and hold the meeting by Dec. 31 will receive 4 percent off their master account, a complimentary PepsiCo food and beverage break, and as many as 100,000 bonus Starpoints. Companies also will be eligible to win one of four $50,000 grants, to be awarded to the charity of their choice. More than 350,000 hotels are participating, representing the Westin, Sheraton, Le MĂ©ridien, W, Luxury Collection, Four Points by Sheraton, Element and Aloft brands. Starwood kicked off the promotion last Thursday with a $50,000 grant to Bette Midler's nonprofit New York Restoration Project; CEO Frits van Paasschen and more than 100 Starwood and PepsiCo employees spent the day helping to restore three community gardens in East Harlem.
