Yesterday, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced plans to add 12,000 new jobs in the coming year, with roughly half of those positions in the United States. The majority of the jobs will be created by the 80 to 100 new properties slated to open globally this year. “After a year of hunkering down and cutting costs, companies are driving their top line again,” remarked Starwood CEO and president Frits van Paasschen in a statement. “By definition this means getting back on the road, which not only benefits their own business, but also helps spur job creation."
