At the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo, which wrapped up last week in Melbourne, Australia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced plans to forge ahead with expansion in Australia and the Pacific, primarily through its Sheraton brand. The company said it will open six new hotels this year, which will bring its portfolio in the region to 20. Among the six new properties are the 174-room Sheraton Melbourne Hotel and the 246-room Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane in Australia, both of which are scheduled to open next month. Also in the pipeline is the 300-room Westin Perth, which is set to open in January 2017.
