The 148-room Sun Valley Lodge at the Sun Valley Resort in Idaho is now closed for a complete renovation and expansion of the 1936 building. All guest rooms and the lobby will be redone; when the work is completed and the rooms have been enlarged, the revitalized hotel will offer just 94 rooms. To be added are a new 20,000-square-foot spa with 15 treatment rooms, a wellness facility, a new lobby bar, and a new pool area and café. The lodge's all-day restaurant, Gretchen's, also will get a makeover. The property is scheduled to reopen in June 2015. All other accommodations at the resort -- the 105-room Sun Valley Inn and the 232 rooms available in apartments, cottages and condos -- remain open.
