The 87-room Taconic, a Kimpton Hotel, has opened on Main Street in Manchester, Vt., with easy access to the town's well-known dining and shopping spots, as well as both Bromley and Stratton mountains for skiing.

"As we expand our brand, we are continuing to look to destinations that will excite Kimpton loyalists but are also natural extensions of our metropolitan locations," says Joe Capalbo, director of operations for Kimpton Hotels in New England. "Manchester's proximity to New York City, Boston and Montreal, coupled with the unique energy of the town and its people, made it an ideal next-destination for Kimpton to plant its roots."

Taconic's accommodations include six suites and three cottages with views of the Green and Taconic Mountain ranges. The 9,600 square feet of meeting space includes a 2,800-square-foot ballroom, an outdoor terrace, a library, a solarium and the Green event lawn that can host up to 400. Aside from downhil skiing at Bromley and Stratton, guests also can go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Hildene, the Lincoln Family Home and the Manchester Country Club, or when the snow melts, go boating, golfing, fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The hotel itself has a state-of-the-art fitness center and a lap pool.
