Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the new Paséa Hotel & Spa has opened overlooking the beach in Huntington Beach, California. The word “pasea” means to travel or walk, which is appropriate as the hotel is part of an increasingly pedestrian-friendly part of Huntington Beach just south of its pier and Main Street area that also includes a new outdoor mall called Pacific City featuring restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.

The Paséa Hotel features 250 guest rooms, almost all of them offering ocean views, and 34,600 square feet of meeting space that includes an 8,400-square-foot ballroom and a 14,600-square-foot event lawn overlooking the ocean. Also included is a unique space called the Blue Room, which has a built-in bar, a bank of TV screens and patio (also with an ocean view). Throughout the hotel, artwork by mostly local artists evokes the beach and surf scene — appropriate for its location in “Surf City USA.”

Food-and-beverage outlets at the Paséa Hotel include Tanner’s, the hotel’s signature restaurant, which features a wood-fueled “inferno grill” that can be seen through floor-to-ceiling windows; the Treehouse Lounge, Tanner's rooftop bar with stunning views of the ocean; and Blend Café, a grab-and-go style eatery that also serves wine by the glass (in various ounces, even) and bottle. Wellness offerings include the hotel’s Balinese-influenced Aarna Spa, fitness center, yoga classes and a dedicated team of Surf Butlers.

The new hotel is the latest addition to Pacific Hospitality Group’s Meritage Collection. Southern California hotels with meeting space in the collection also include the nearby Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara and the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in San Diego County.
