The 173-room Port au Prince Marriott will open in the Haitian capital in 2014. The property will have 4,600 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, a restaurant and a lobby bar. In a statement about the new venture, Marriott International's president and COO Arne Sorenson said, "Haiti is in great need of quality hotels today and for the foreseeable future. This hotel is one more signal that Haiti is open for business." The property is expected to generate 175 new jobs in the troubled country.
