Lifestyle hospitality brand Thompson Hotels has opened its first property in the nation's capital. Thompson Washington D.C. occupies a prime spot in the waterfront Navy Yard neighborhood, less than one mile from Capitol Hill.

The 11-story building features 225 rooms, including 17 suites. Each room is outfitted with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer sweeping views of the Anacostia River and Nationals Park. The hotel offers 7,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including a private dining room and wine room. The building and interiors were designed by Studios Architecture and Parts and Labor Design, respectively.

The hotel's signature restaurant, Maialino Mare, serves seasonally inspired dishes and pastas with an emphasis on seafood. The Roman-style trattoria is modeled after its sister restaurant in New York

Adjacent to the Maialino Mare is the Thompson Bar Room, where guests can enjoy complimentary coffee in the early morning. Cocktails, wine, beer and light fare are also on the Bar Room menu.

Perched at the top of the hotel is Anchovy Social, a rooftop bar with 360-degree views of the city and waterfront. The bar serves playful cocktails and shareable bites, such as a Frozen Hot Chocolate and a Seafood Tower, in a nautical-themed setting.

"We are proud to introduce the sophisticated and evocative Thompson Washington D.C. to the nation's capital," said general manager Sherry Abedi. "We look forward to super-serving our global visitors, World of Hyatt members, and the Washington, D.C. community with a stylish destination to eat, drink, connect and relax."
