Having completed major renovations, the boutique Tides Riviera Maya has joined the Viceroy Hotels and Resorts portfolio and has been rebranded as the Viceroy Riviera Maya. The all-villa beachfront resort, which is 40 miles south of Cancun and three miles north of Playa del Carmen, added 11 new villas, for a total of 41. The property now has a new entrance, motor court and reception area; a new beachfront casual restaurant; a remodeled fine-dining restaurant; a new fitness center with an ocean view, and a new retail boutique. In addition, the Presidential Villa has been completely renovated and now offers an ocean view. The resort opened in 2002 as the Ikal del Mar and became the Tides in 2006.
