Hotel bookings and rates for 2013 continue to rise, according to the April 2013 TravelClick North American Hospitality Review, with transient numbers significantly outpacing those of the group segment. From April 2013 through March 2014, overall committed occupancy is up 3 percent, year-over-year, with an average daily rate up 4.1 percent, year over year. For individual business and leisure travelers, the bookings are up by 5.7 percent, and average daily rates are 4.2 percent higher than a year ago. For the group segment, however, occupancy is just 1.9 percent higher, year-over-year, with a 3.8 percent increase in average daily rate. The report takes into account group sales commitments and individual reservations in the 25 major North American markets for stays booked by March 31, 2013, for the April 2013-March 2014 period. TravelClick counts more than 30,000 hotel clients in more than 160 countries.
