Ground has been broken for the Virgin Hotels New York in New York City's NoMad neighborhood, aka the Madison Square North Historic District. The property, designed by the VOA architectural firm, will be housed in a 39-story tower and have 465 guest rooms. Other offerings for the hotel, which will open in 2018, will include meeting space, several food-and-beverage outlets, a rooftop sky bar, expansive outdoor terraces, a pool, a spa and 90,000 square feet of retail space.

Virgin Hotels opened its first property in Chicago in January, and will open a Nashville property next fall. By 2025, the brand expects to have 20 hotels in destinations such as Boston; Dallas; Los Angeles; Miami; Austin, Texas; Seattle; San Francisco; Washington, D.C.; and London.
