The 289-room Westin Portland (Maine) Harborview has opened in the state's largest city. Opened as the Eastland Hotel in 1927, the building has undergone a $50 million restoration that stripped it to its core. Work on the 5,529-square-foot Eastland Grand Ballroom (which has a 1,640-square-foot balcony) revealed its vaulted ceiling and mezzanine areas. The Top of the East rooftop lounge, with panoramic views of the city and the harbor, has been expanded and now serves drinks and light fare; the restaurant, C2, is named for the hotel's Congress Square location. The Akari day spa accompanies the WestinWORKOUT gym.
