Conrad Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to redesign and reopen the former La Tranquila Resort in Western Mexico's Riviera Nayarit, near Punta de Mita. La Tranquila, which was shuttered in the summer of 2017, was part of the ambitious, government-driven Litibu gated development on the highway between Sayulita and Punta de Mita. That development currently is home to an 18-hole Greg Norman signature golf course as well as the Iberostar Playa Mita resort. Following a multimillion-dollar investment, the 325-room Conrad Playa Mita is scheduled to open its doors in late 2019.
The design of the new luxury resort is meant to highlight the natural beauty of the surrounding area, offering open corridors and incorporating the rich tropical landscape. All guest rooms and suites will provide unobstructed views of the ocean.
The property also promises more than 45,000 square feet of function space, including more than 30,000 square feet of outdoor event space with beach frontage. A 10,000-square-foot ballroom also is part of the plan, along with 3,000 square feet of breakout rooms, each with a large prefunction terrace.
The new Conrad will offer guests access to the golf course, as well as tennis courts, a serene spa experience, a swimming pool and a number of dining options. Outdoor activities in the area include surfing, paddle boarding, scuba diving, whale watching, horseback riding, mountain biking and more.
The new resort will be Conrad's second property in the country, following the 134-room Conrad San Luis Potosí in Central Mexico
