Businessman Tilman J. Fertitta, owner of Landry's, the Golden Nugget Casinos and the Houston Rockets basketball team, is the brains behind Houston's newest luxury property, the 250-room Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston, near the Galleria. Unique to the property is the two-level Rolls Royce dealership inside its 38-story tower.
"Houston has never had a property like this, and I wanted to be the one to deliver it," said Fertitta in a statement marking the hotel's debut. "The Post Oak will stand up to the world's best hotels. Guests will see the attention to detail we put into every touchpoint and the level of luxury they will not find anywhere else in Houston. It will certainly be a game changer."
 
The hotel impresses right away with its three-story glass lobby, highlighted by a grand chandelier inspired by one at the Dubai Opera House. The cascading fixture was custom built in Czechoslovakia and features 739 Swarovski crystal balls and 1,428 LED light sources among its total of 15,719 crystals. The lobby also is complimented by the works of American artist Frank Stella. Other pieces from Fertitta's own art collection can be found throughout the hotel, including works from Robert Motherwell, Alex Katz, Donald Sultan, Joseph Glasco, Friedel Dzubas and Howard Hodgkin.
 
Among the hotel's suites are the 5,000-square-foot Presidential Suite with a wraparound terrace, a private elevator, a fitness room and a catering kitchen; and the 1,500-square-foot Post Oak Suite. Also available are 22 residential apartment units with full kitchens, washers and dryers, and large walk-in closets that can be rented on a short- or long-term basis.
 
The 35,000-square-foot conference facility offers the largest ballroom in the Uptown Houston area, spanning 16,000 square feet and with its own private entrance.
 
For dining and drinking, Bloom & Bee's menu emphasizes locally inspired cuisine, while H Bar serves light bites along with a menu of fine spirits and exotic cocktails. Just opening this week is Craft F& B, offering pub fare such as wood-fired pizzas, burgers and craft brews. For specialty breakfasts, Bouchée Patisserie serves pastries, specialty coffee and Parisian-inspired indulgences.
 
Two premier restaurants sit adjacent to the hotel: Mastro's Steakhouse and Willie G's Seafood. Both eateries feature extensive wine lists with a combined total of more than 20,000 bottles. More than 2,000 labels are rare vintages dating from the 1800s.
