Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts will make its Bay Area debut in 2020 or 2021. Part of a new mixed-use development surrounding the Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco's new Transbay neighborhood -- bordered by Market Street to the north, Embarcadero to the east, Folsom Street to the south, and Hawthorne Street to the west -- the 171-room Waldorf Astoria San Francisco will occupy the first 21 stories of a tower designed by the architecture firm Foster + Partners. Along with 171 guest rooms, the hotel will offer personal concierges, a luxury spa, and a Peacock Alley restaurant.
Hilton has not yet announced how much meeting space the property will have.

Envisioned as the "Grand Central Station of the West," the $4.5 billion Transbay Transit Center will serve more than 100,000 daily passengers using 11 transit systems, including local bus and light-rail lines, as well as Caltrain, Amtrak and California's forthcoming high-speed rail service. Along with the Waldorf Astoria, the development will have a 5.4-acre park, 4,500 condominiums and apartments, and a 205-room Langham Place hotel scheduled to open in 2019.
