Construction has begun on a 23,000-square-foot freestanding ballroom at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. The Riverview Ballroom project will open in July 2017 on the banks of the Potomac River.

With windows on three sides, groups will enjoy views of the river, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and Old Town Alexandria. The ballroom will offer 16,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and two outdoor terraces.

The 2,000-room Gaylord National features more than 500,000 square feet of meeting space, the full-service Relâche Spa, a fitness center and an indoor pool. Dining and drinking options include the Old Hickory Steakhouse, the Pienza Marketplace, the National Pastime Sports Bar and Grill, the Pose Rooftop Lounge and the Belvedere Lobby Bar.
