InterContinental Hotels Group, which bought Kimpton Hotels in January 2015, is transforming the 270-room Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre in the Netherlands into the first European Kimpton property.

The hotel will undergo a renovation of the lobby, restaurants, facilities and guest rooms, opening as a luxury Kimpton hotel in 2017. The property will feature a destination bar and restaurant, a state-of-the-art gym and meeting space equipped with the up-to-date technology.

"IHG's ability to take Kimpton to new markets and geographies was a key part of the transaction, and we're delighted to announce this important milestone for the brand," said Richard Solomons, CEO of IHG. "It is testament to the global appeal of the Kimpton brand and to the strength of IHG's global scale and relationships with owners across the world."
