Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is partnering with Sunmarina Operations Co. to bring the Sheraton brand to Okinawa, Japan. The rebranding of the existing Sunmarina Hotel as the 200-room Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort on the East China Sea will take place in in mid-2016. Expansion work will add 45 rooms by early 2017.

"Sheraton is set to add more than 150 new hotels globally by the year 2020, and the signing of Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort underscores the brand's accelerated growth trajectory."
The resort will feature more than 3,800 square feet of meeting space, as well as an outdoor pool, a marina, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, tennis courts and a spa. Dining options will include an all-day restaurant, a specialty restaurant and a lobby lounge.
