Three meetings and incentive industry organizations -- Financial and Insurance Conference Professionals, the Incentive Research Foundation and the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence -- are launching a milestone study, the Incentive Travel Index, powered by Site Index, IRF Outlook and FICP. The study, to be conducted by J.D. Power, will be produced on an annual basis to forecast and analyze business conditions, attitudes and expectations impacting the incentive-travel and motivational-events industry, as well as track challenges and provide leading indicators of future trends. The survey will begin in late May, with results scheduled for release in late summer.
SITE and the IRF formerly produced their own annual studies on incentive travel, while FICP recently inaugurated a survey of its membership on issues including incentive-travel programs. The collaboration is particularly notable as the IRF is an offshoot of the old SITE Foundation, created in a bitter split from SITE in 2006; the study marks the first time the two groups have joined forces.

"The IRF does a great job covering the whole incentive industry [travel and merchandise]," said Didier Scaillet, who became SITE's CEO earlier this year. "We ought to do more things to build synergies; this is a first step in the right direction."

Previously, the IRF and SITE released their respective study findings at the end of the year. The new release date was chosen to coincide with the marketing and budgeting cycle of most organizations, Scaillet told M&C.

In a joint statement, Scaillet, IRF president Melissa Van Dyke and FICP executive director Steve Bova said, "Along with our individual organizations' esteemed boards of directors and trustees, we look forward to continuing to amplify our respective roles as leading voices within the incentive travel industry and to helping our industry grow from this groundbreaking collaboration."
