The American Society of Association Executives' Marketing, Membership, & Communications Conference, held May 2-3 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., brought in 851 association executives and industry partners to experience 24 learning labs, three keynotes, two preconference workshops and networking opportunities.

"The education sessions and keynote speakers this year really resonated with our audience," said John H. Graham, IV, FASAE, CAE, president and CEO of ASAE. "They provided attendees with insight on the latest trends, advice on how to strengthen their brands, and the best strategies for marketing, membership and communications."

New this year were two preconference workshops on May 1, "Strategic Talent Management for High-Performing Marcomm Teams," with six panelists discussing culture and its impact on an association's success in building high-performing teams; and "Membership Recruitment in the Digital Age," led by Shama Hyder, CEO of the Marketing Zen Group, who presented ways organizations can grow their digital footprint and convert it to new member growth.

During the event ASAE announced the 2017 Gold Circle for Overall Excellence winner, the American Society of Anesthesiologists for its Protecting Safe VA Care campaign.
