ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership, has named Rhonda M. Payne, CAE, its new chief learning officer. She will lead the development of all educational programming for the association, including face-to-face events and ASAE University. She will begin her new role on Aug. 3.

Payne comes to ASAE with 20 years of experience in higher education and the association and nonprofit worlds. Most recently, she served as vice president of education and certification with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), a 70,000-member organization dedicated to advancing the retail real-estate industry and promoting its role in the commercial distribution of consumer goods and services. At ICSC, Payne revamped the association's educational offerings and created new programs and increased participation among members.

Payne also has held various positions in industries such as health care, manufacturing and design. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She also earned a graduate-level certificate in communication, culture and technology from Georgetown University. In 2013, Payne received the Certified Association Executive credential.
