The Convention Industry Council has unveiled the recipients of its first peer-nominated influencers campaign, created to honor of the 30th anniversary of the Certified Meeting Professional designation. The #CMP30 Influencers are people who have received the certification and have made a lasting impact on the industry. The list includes planner Terri Breining, CMP, CMM; attorney Tyra W. Hilliard, PhD, JD, CMP; tech guru Corbin Ball, CMP, CSP, DES; and planner and educator Carol Krugman, MEd, CMP, CMM.

"As CMP turns 30, the Influencers program has been a wonderful way to celebrate those industry leaders who have made a difference over the past three decades," said Karen Kotowski, CAE, CMP, chief executive officer of CIC. "The response has been overwhelmingly positive as colleagues nominated their peers and mentors. These CMP Influencers are exemplary models of what the CIC stands for - fiercely committed to the advancement of the meetings profession."

The #CMP30 campaign was launched in April, as industry professionals used Facebook and Twitter to nominate CMPs who had influenced them and whose work has had an impact on the growth of the profession. More than 75 individual nominations were submitted,  and industry professionals voted for the recipients through a Facebook poll.

The final list was selected by a committee, based on the number of Facebook poll votes, personal influence on peers, and community/leadership presence. To see the rest of the list, click here.

The winners will be honored at the CIC's CMP Conclave, Sept. 26-28, in Reno, Nevada.
