The Convention Industry Council, the meetings industry's umbrella organization that represents 33 associations, has released the latest CIC Industry Glossary, 2016 Edition. 

"As the industry evolves, so does the terminology. Updating the Glossary was a necessary step in improving the resources we offer," said the Karen Kotowski, CAE, CMP, chief executive officer of the CIC. "We are proud of this collaborative project that used industry experts and our CMP [Certified Meeting Professional] community."

More than 150 CMP volunteers contributed to the update, lead by APEX Standards Committee members Gary Murakami, CTC, CMP, of MGM Resorts International, and Carol Norfleet, CMP, DMCP, of Destination Nashville.

The document defines approximately 1,400 terms. Notable additions this year include a British/English style guide and an appendix on bandwidth terms.
