The Convention Industry Council, which oversees the Certified Meeting Professional program, has announced it will conduct a 2012 CMP Census to create a detailed profile of planners with their CMPs. "We'll have comprehensive and accurate data on the CMP community," said Karen M. Gonzales, CMP, chair of the CMP board of directors. The CIC expects the data to inform future industry education, professional resources and industry standards. Currently, according to Gonzales, there are 10,000 CMPs working in 46 countries; the census will look into their purchasing power, interest and career challenges.
