Colleen Phalen has been named executive vice president, program development and meetings, for Destination Marketing Association International. She joins the DMAI team effective July 6 and will be based in Washington, D.C., reporting to CEO Don Welsh.

Phalen most recently served as senior director of meetings and conventions with the Association of Justice; she also has held senior management positions with the Consumer Electronics Show and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

In her new post, she will direct and manage all educational content and operations for DMAI's meetings, webcasts and certificate/credential programs, and will play an integral role in the development of tools and resources for DMAI members.

"I am excited to join the DMAI team, and look forward to supporting Don's vision for the association," said Phalen. "I believe so strongly in our industry and in this team, and will immediately engage members and partners to learn more about their expectations and needs."
