Destination Marketing Association International has launched its Event Impact Calculator, a tool that measures the full economic value — based on direct expenditures, taxes, employment, wages and total return on investment — of an event. Among its features:

• It allows DMOs to input meeting parameters and can be customized according to type of event, year, industry focus and financial agreements.

• Analysis is based on city-specific data and measures localized per-diem spending and economic impacts.

• It measures impact by source (who’s spending), by industry (where is it being spent) and by economic benefit (business sales, jobs, wages and taxes).
