The Global Business Travel Association Convention, held Aug. 4-7 in San Diego, attracted a record 1,531 travel buyers this year. The 6,469 total attendees made the 2013 event one of the organization's largest to date. The association's direct members, the travel buyers, elected Donna Kelliher, director of business services for Dominion, to serve as president and CEO of GBTA; Christie Johnson, director of business services for Johnson Downie LLC, was elected vice president. Kelliher and Johnson will serve two-year terms. Two proposed amendments to the GBTA bylaws on the ballot failed to garner the requisite two-thirds vote to pass. The proposals, one of which would have dissolved GBTA's Allied Leadership Council, generated much heated debate prior to the vote. Next year's GBTA Convention will be held in Los Angeles, July 27-30.
