The Global Business Travel Association Foundation and Project ICARUS, the foundation's sustainability program, have announced the creation of the Outstanding Achievement Awards for Sustainability in business travel and meetings across North America. The awards will recognize travel buyers, suppliers and intermediaries who show outstanding leadership, innovation and commitment to delivering sustainability programs, products and services throughout the continent. "This year we have seen an increase in the number of companies building sustainability into their business travel and meetings programs, and we are thrilled to recognize those companies and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to this drive to greater sustainability in our industry," said Bernard Harrop, head of sustainability for Project ICARUS. The closing date for applications is Jan. 15, 2013. The winners will be honored at the GBTA Foundation Annual Gala Dinner in New York City on March 18, 2013.
