The Global Business Travel Association will team up with Meeting Professionals International to offer a meetings and events education track at the former's upcoming European conference. The two associations will collaborate on four sessions at the "GBTA Conference 2017 Frankfurt in Partnership With VDR," which takes place Nov. 28-30 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The meetings-focused sessions are:

• "How the West is Won: Success Stories from Optimized Meetings & Events Programs," which will present recent trends and forecasts about strategic meetings management programs and how to capitalize on them.

• "Measuring the ROI of Learning" will offer a pragmatic approach for such measurements that can be adapted to a range of events and different types of learners.

• "Travel Management Meets Meeting Management" will present a practical guide to combining meetings and travel spend in an organization. Travel managers who have already taken this on will provide insight and tips.

• "The Meeting of the Future" will look at technology disruptors and how they might change meetings over the next 20 years.

"We are delighted to be working with MPI," said Catherine McGavock, GBTA regional vice president of EMEA. "Our members have identified meetings and events as a growing part of their portfolio, and this new partnership addresses their needs for specialized education and expertise in this area. As a global association, MPI has the international experience to help travel managers and buyers effectively manage their meetings and events business."

The two associations have been collaborating in North America since 2013 to provide education for MPI's Certification in Meetings Management designation.

More than 1,000 travel professionals are expected to attend GBTA Conference 2017 Frankfurt in Partnership with VDR (Verband Deutsches Reisemanagement), which is a coalition of more than 530 member companies that represents the interests of the German business travel industry.
