The LGBT Meeting Professionals Association has announced the addition of two executive board members: Derrick M. Johnson II, left, senior director of meetings for the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, and Tony Scurry, CMP, right, president and CEO of 7 Pointe Planning.

"We've set ambitious goals for 2018, including additional education programs, networking events at major industry conferences and membership growth -- both individual and corporate," said Jim Clapes, chairman of the LGBT MPA's executive board. "Our new board members will be a major part of meeting our goals."

Johnson and Scurry are tasked with providing leadership in education, content development and strategic growth. Johnson brings experience in custom educational programs and content focused on diversity, and will provide materials for the LGBT MPA membership and 2018 workshops. Scurry, who has extensive experience using analytics for strategic meeting planning, will use his expertise to help expand LGBT MPA's corporate memberships.

"Being part of the LGBT MPA is important to me because we provide the opportunity for dialogue, to educate and to implement change for the LGBT community and everyone in the meetings and events industry," said Scurry.

Membership in the LGBT MPA is free for LGBT professionals
