Meeting Professionals International has moved its 2015 World Education Congress in San Francisco from July 25-28 to Aug. 1-4. The main reason is to make sure the event does not conflict with the Global Business Travel Association's 2015 convention, July 25-29 in Orlando, making it easier for industry professionals to go to both. "You plan, search destinations many years ahead, then you monitor the industry to see what new events are coming into the space," said Cindy D'Aoust, COO of Dallas-based MPI. "We realized it would be better to shift the dates." She added that communications for next year's event really hadn't ramped up yet, so the organization felt that making the change would not inconvenience many people. "We did have early registration open at this year's event and we will be personally calling them," she said. D'Aoust says the organization was gratified by the flexibility of the host committee and the San Francisco hotel community: "They really did the heavy lifting, making sure the dates worked with the hotels and the Moscone Center."
