Pittsburgh has been selected to host the Professional Convention Management Association's annual Convening Leaders Conference at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in January 2019. This event, which has grown significantly over the past nine years, is expected to draw more than 4,200 professionals worldwide to the city for three days of education and networking.

"This is a huge win for Pittsburgh," said Craig Davis, president and CEO of VisitPittsburgh, the city's destination marketing organization. "Five minutes after the announcement, our team started our planning."

The conference will demonstrate that Pittsburgh is accessible, walkable, and has award-winning dining and unique off-site venues, noted the DMO in today's announcement. PCMA plans to tap leaders from the region's universities and the corporate community to foster new research ideas that will be valuable for new Convening Leaders' content.

Davis hopes that hosting this conference will draw future meetings and conventions to Pittsburgh. "Many of these attendees will be deciding the locations for their future meetings and conferences," he said, "so the opportunity to showcase our beautiful city to these decision makers could lead to a tremendous amount of business for Pittsburgh. PCMA attendees who have never been to our great city or who haven't been here for a while will quickly find out why Pittsburgh is amongst the top travel destinations in the world and one of the friendliest cities, as well has having an outstanding food scene and thriving cultural district.  We look forward to welcoming the business event leaders from around the world to Pittsburgh."
