In in an exclusive interview with M&C, Carina Bauer, CEO, IMEX Group, said the show has detailed contingency plans in place, should the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano continue to disrupt air travel in Europe. Bauer said last year's eruption and ensuing travel troubles prompted IMEX to create an intricate plan for getting attendees to or from the show by rail, charter plane and ferry. This year's three-day IMEX meeting and incentive trade show kicked off yesterday in Frankfurt, Germany; 3,800 hosted buyers and 5,000 visitors are expected, and final numbers will be available next week.
