The Taiwanese tourism industry is optimistic after an economic framework agreement between Taiwan and China went into effect on Sept. 12. In addition to boosting trade and investment ties, the agreement might move Taiwan's tourism bureau to raise the amount of daily Chinese visitors to 10,000, according to Bloomberg. As a result, stocks in Formosa International Hotels Corp., the largest hotel operator in Taiwan, rose 4.7 percent since last month, with Ambassador Hotel Ltd., EVA Airways Corp. and China Airlines Ltd. all reporting gains in Taipei trading as well.
