The Anaheim Convention Center recently implemented an extensive composting program with the help of Aramark, the food-services and facilities-management company. The compost site is on the convention center campus and will be able to turn food scraps and uncoated paper, cardboard and green waste, such as lawn trimmings, into landscaping soil that will be distributed throughout the Anaheim Resort district. The 12-to-15-hour process can reduce 250 pounds of compostable waste into 25 pounds of soil. The 1.2 million-square-foot convention center is LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
