The 300,000-square-foot Baja California Center opened this week, the first convention center in the Mexican state of Baja California. The facility, which sits between Tijuana and Rosarito, can accommodate up to 11,500 attendees. The $45 million center overlooks the Pacific Ocean and includes a 194,000-square-foot exhibition hall and a 43,000-square-foot lobby, as well as 27,000 square feet of gardens and outdoor open space. Two future expansions are planned, which would ultimately result in a 1 million-square-foot venue. The convention center features a 50-foot-high ceiling, allowing it to host events such as boxing matches and concerts.
