The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority is predicting Boston's 2014 meetings business will break records for both room nights and economic impact. Group business coming to the city is expected to use 629,000 hotel room nights, producing $680 million in economic activity. The previous record for room nights, in 2006, topped 616,000, and the record for economic impact was set in 2012 at $656 million. "These are not just heads in beds," said James E. Rooney, MCCA executive director, in a statement. "These are people and businesses from around the world looking to connect and do business in Boston and Massachusetts."
