Officials at the Cleveland Convention Center announced last Friday that the facility will open two months ahead of schedule and on budget. The facility will be unveiled on July 1, 2013, and will host the 2013 Summer National Senior Games, which expects 14,000 participants and more than 20,000 additional family members. The convention center will offer 767,000 square feet of space, including 235,000 square feet of exhibit space and more than 90,000 square feet of meeting rooms, which includes a 30,000-square-foot ballroom. The facility will be connected to the Medical Mart, also under construction, which will have 235,000 square feet, of which approximately 100,000 square feet will be available for showroom space. The Medical Mart is scheduled to open fall 2013. The entire complex, combined, will span 1 million square feet.
