The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park was severely damaged in Colorado's recent wildfire, which is now mostly contained. Officials are planning to rebuild the park "in a way that will be better than ever," said Harry Hargrave, president of the Royal Gorge Co. The fire burned 48 of the 52 structures on the property, but the 84-year-old suspension bridge itself sustained only minor damage and the Royal Rush Skycoaster, the Soaring Eagle Zip Line and the Plaza Theatre are still functional. All of the wildlife park's animals were unharmed, and the little Silver Rock Railway just outside the park entrance was untouched.
