Ground was broken last week on an expansion to the Spokane (Wash.) Convention Center. About 90,000 square feet of exhibit space, meeting rooms and support areas will be added to the existing building. The facility currently features more than 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 25,310-square-foot main ballroom, a 13,730-square-foot junior ballroom and 23 meeting rooms. Also under construction is a 720-room hotel, across the street from the convention center, being built by Davenport Hotel Collection for a 2015 opening. It will be connected to the convention center by a skywalk and will feature 60,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 18,000-square-foot ballroom.
